The vivid, earthy colours of Western Australia’s far north so inspired True North boutique cruise operator Mark Stothard that he had 120 tonnes of rock from the Kimberley region trucked more than 3000km south to the other end of the vast state, to be used in the construction of True North Ashore.
Set amidst jarrah and peppermint trees on a hill top overlooking the Indian Ocean at Eagle Bay, this luxurious labour of love took 18 months to complete. The result is a marriage of textures and colours, polished timber and clean lines, located on the pristine coast of one of Western Australia’s premium wine and fine food regions, Margaret River.
The rich grain of local timbers, including Marri and Jarrah, used for the flooring and fittings, combine with a nautical feel and spaciousness to bring the Australian Outback indoors.
Promoted as the ultimate in Margaret River accommodation, guests are greeted by a tumbling waterfall in the foyer and can take in the broad expanse of Eagle Bay from the comfort of an outdoor spa built of Kimberley stone.
