Arctic TreeHotel

Steve flew from London Heathrow on the scheduled SAS flight, arriving at 19.50 in the evening to Luleá, in the far north of Sweden to visit the TreeHotel in Harads.  Booking in advance, this leg of his trip cost around £75 including all taxes. Great price for a 3hr 15m flight on a scheduled airline!

At Lulea, those arriving from the London flight are generally met in a Tipi erected outside the airport for a cup of warm lingonberry juice (mountain cranberries) before their ongoing journey.
Steve elected to take a transfer bus organised by the Treehotel (SKr700) to their base in Harads, a 75minute drive away. Although this isn't the cheapest individual option, (you can take a bus transfer from the airport to Lulea station (45SKr), and then the train to nearer Boden (45SKr), followed by a taxi or hotel transfer from the station (300-500SKr)), the more people that travel together, the cheaper the transfer option becomes. The bus seats 5 in comfort (so when sharing you're paying only SKr140 each).

So, with a little planning, TreeHotel can be reached cost effectively direct from London for around £90 if you are able to share costs of the transfer bus.

Alternative: If you're arriving to Lulea earlier, there is also a public bus service from Lulea central bus station direct to Harads leaving at 14.15, arriving at 15.40 to Harads town centre.
We do not recommend hiring a car in the winter, unless you are experienced driving on snow. While the roads are very well maintained and snow tyres excellent, unless you understand moose and reindeer avoidance - the forest roads are dangerous, as wildlife cross frequently and are the single largest cause of serious accidents during the winter.
