About STF Sala Silvermine
A beautiful and rustic 20´s and 50´s style B+B
At the centre of Sala Silvermine's historic village complex is the original rooming house, built to house workers in the 1920's. The recipient of a heritage grant, the building and rooms have been faithfully restored, with the addition of modern conveniences, showers etc, and room entry code systems hidden in the walls. These systems unlock the doors by holding your room key to the wall - so as not to detract from the 1950's and 1920's decor of the rooms.
While the appearance is rustic, it will appeal as a Bed and Breakfast overnight stop to those who want to immerse themselves in the 1950's experience, with period furniture, decorations and tapestries - with 21st century comfort and quality.
Groups will find the amenities particularly useful, as the complete property can be booked for corporate activities linked to the mine. Themed evenings above and underground? This is one of the few deep mines which allow public access, and the facilities have hosted concerts, product presentations and even a Royal visit!
For those who relish adventure, check out the Sala Silvermine suite, 155m underground - the deepest hotel suite in the world, and one of the worlds most extreme locations to sleep. You are promised a memorable experience!

Map & Activities
Sala has been a silver mine since the 12th century and around 450 tonnes of silver has been extracted. While no longer a working mine, it has been preserved as a museum site with offers guided tours 60m and 155m underground. On the surface there is a traditional mining village highlighting traditional handicrafts and restored buildings, as well as a fantastic high ropes course, much in demand by corporate groups as well as adventurous individual visitors.
The mine museum exhibition shows the different processes involved in the extraction and production of silver, and the underground tours offer a fantastic insight to the hardships of life underground.
The underground tours are well lit and fascinating, led by experienced guides in period costume, however stout footwear is recommended.
During the summer months a number of special events, concerts and demonstrations are organised. Contact the property for the latest updates.
