    Our Media Coverage
Our PR team around the world work receive requests from some great fun publications, latterly we've been working with Dutch Dog lifestyle magazine Wraf! - to feature WOW favourite DogBarkPark. Greek publication Icons asked for our help and in Sweden MSN ran a cover story about us. Italy too covered UHOTW while recently joined contributor Andrea in Germany has been working with Journal für die Apotheke, a German magazine for pharmaceutical professionals.

    Check this Out
The UHOTW team often receive Unusual requests, and we do what we can to help. Regular reader GeorgeS of North Carolina contacted the team to ask for more details and the whereabouts of an Unusual limousine - a converted 727 airliner. While our inquiries were eventually successful, tracking the plane down to www.limobob.com/jetlimo.html, the rental fees were stratospheric and George had to settle for something more traditional. If your budget stretches as much as his cars, Limo Bob has also got a Train and Helicopter limo too!

    Spotlight on SNOW!
The UHOTW team based in the Northern Hemisphere are looking forward to the holiday season and snow over the Christmas break, and our thoughts return to that favourite of Unusual Hotels, the Ice and Snow properties. While the original ICEHOTEL is still running, refreshed annually from the frozen waters of the River Torne, there are lots of other Ice and Snow properties around the world.Ice Hotel
North America has the year-round attraction of The Aurora Ice Museum one of our first members back in 2004, where due to a disagreement with the fire marshall, the lack of water sprinkler systems in the frozen igloo structure means they're no longer allowed to promote the rooms available! However - book a normal room and ask at reception to transfer to one of their frozen suites.Hotel Du Glace

In Quebec, the Hotel Du Glace American sister to the ICEHOTEL opens its doors at the end of December with a spectacular firework displayAurora Ice Museum. Back in Europe, there are now 6 Iglu-Dorf properties with one of the easiest to access from the UK - Engelberg, which is a simple flight to Zurich and train ride away - including a superb funicular ride from Lucerne. You can be walking to you room within 3 hours of getting off your flight. Other locations in Germany, Switzerland and recently Andorra are also available. Norway and Finland also have Ice hotels that can be combined with Arctic Circle trips to see Reindeer and of course a rather busy St Nicholas. Finland has the Kemi Snowcastle, a favourite with children. If the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are of interest, then try your luck at Kakslauttanen, which not only has the traditional snow igloo, but a number of glazed glass kota igloos, that allow you to look at the heavens from the warmth of your bed. While not guaranteed, the Aurora are on view from last week of August until the end of April - in total 8 months. Best months last year were September and April. Kakslauttanen Hotel and Igloo VillageIglu-Dorf Engelberg

Whichever property you may choose, take our top igloo advice... don't wear too much in bed... and don't drink too much before retiring for the night. A trip to the loo is chilly, especially for the ladies - and wearing too much in bed makes you perspire, so you end up in a puddle of frozen sweat. Wear a single layer of cotton and you'll sleep warm and well!
