Details in rooms and corridors tell stories of far away lands and eclectic collections. Public galleries have glass cases filled with a veritable museum of antiques…19th century evening bags, visiting-card cases, corkscrews and nut crackers. Upstairs a splendid and unique collection of more than 100 fans from different ages.
Everywhere you look the love, passion and creativity in the family represented by Gloria Beggiato, that owns and runs the Metropole, shines through. This personal interest is what makes the Metropole so charming, as it refuses to be categorised into a specific style. Antique furniture of the 18th century blends perfectly with that of the Orient and the Art Deco Period. Precious fabrics, fine silks and velvets in the Venetian tradition decorate rooms, and public areas.
On the ground floor, the Morocco themed Oriental bar shares the aroma of different spices and herbs to celebrate the Rite of Tea, where from October to March you too can stop, sample and relax over a ritual brew. In summer, relax in the charming Citrus Garden among the perfume of jasmines and the soft candle light.
