My wife & I stayed at Livingstone Lodge last night (10/08/13) and had a lovely time. We met everybody that was staying at the camp that night in reception and enjoyed a glass of bubbly and a glass of a 'Baily's like African drink (very nice). On the first game drive we got to see the elephants, giraffe, bison, rhino & several more. Once we got to the tent we set up our seats outside on the terrace area, opened a bottle of red wine & watched the animals (zebra, rhino, elan, ostrich and more) as they ventured to the water hole for a drink. Oh & what a view! Across Romney Marsh & the coast. In Fact we could see the French coast in the distance. Beautiful. The tents are well equipped & warm with heaters in them if it gets a bit chilly. Dinner was a 5 course African influenced meal which was plentiful. Beef, chicken, scallops as a main course went down a treat. A note for visitors is that dinner is a group event so all guests staying at Livingstone lodge dine together around a big table. Be prepared to introduce yourself and enjoy the company & chit chat of everyone around you. After dinner it was back to the tent for a nightcap and one last look across the savannah. You will wake up early here because of the animal noise but that's what we expected. Lions roaring in the distance and giraffe's walking past the tent at 5am just add to the experience. Breakfast was served at 7.30, again plentiful and cooked right before us. At 9am the group left on a second game drive and this time we got to see the lions & gorillas. Finishing back at reception at about 10.15am we had a great time. By the way, we stayed in 'Elephant' tent which was brilliant and 20 yards back from the water hole and i would recommend that all UHOTW guests request a 'front line' tent when booking for the same experience. ENJOY.
