Positive Experiences

" What made Jambo different? Note my use of the word ‘home:’ it felt more like staying at home than like staying in the 5-star guest house it is – and whilst that might not appeal to everyone, it appeals to me. ... But that’s just the point, isn’t it? Barry and Mina Thomas at Jambo haven’t tried to be all things to all men. Instead (because being all things to all men almost always fails) they’ve used their talents to create their own personal spaces. And those, I think, are the two words that answer my question... what sets a guest house apart is whether or not it has its own sense of personal space. I’m pretty sure it’s that simple. "In the heart of the city, just 300 meters away from the new stadium, a stones's throw away from the waterfront, we entered the wonderful world of "Jambo Guest House". We were prepared from our tour operator''s description, but what expected us there, exceeded all our already high expectation by far: An amazing gem, with thousands of lovingly arranged details. When the owners Mina and Berry, who were allways there to give a hand, without beeing intrusive at all, showed us their garden, we could hardly believe, what we saw: A small jungle. quite and peaceful. in the middle of that metropolis. Through the trees, the noise of the busy city was neatly banned. The gentle both of them gave us many tips, which sites we shold view, and lots of them were very useful and not described in the common tourist guides. Upstairs in the bar, there might be some live music from time to time...;-) The rooms where clean, the breakfast great. Thank You so much, Mina & Berry, we havn't changed our minds yet, there will surely be another song. Axel & Birgit Munich"

"The quality of this guesthouse exceeded what was presented on its website. The owners, Barry and Mina, take great pleasure in welcoming their guests and making sure that all logistical details are taken care of. We went to all of the restaurants they recommended and couldn't have been happier - especially liked the new restaurant just down the road - The Best Ugly. So many wonderful restaurants and the V&A waterfront are all within walking distance of this safe neighborhood - its a fantastic location. We encountered a small problem with our rental car - the boot wouldn't open - and Barry went out of his way to try himself to get it open. When all efforts were unsuccessful, Barry phoned the car rental agency and made arrangements for them to deliver another car, which they did while we were out for lunch. Jambo is a very special place, and I'm already planning to go back with my husband later this year. MNhomegirl world traveller Mar 1, 2009"
