Mountain peak hotel offers top of the world views and excellent restaurant
This mountain top hotel can be reached by a completely new cable car (all year opening) or the world’s steepest cogwheel railway (May-November). Recently restored to the historic grandeur of its opening in 1890, rooms have spectacular views. You'll feel invigorated by clean, clear mountain air, ready to enjoy delicious dining in the Queen Victoria dining room, so named after the Royal visit of the First Queen Victoria. Starry skies are a wonder to enjoy from the top of a mountain peak, returning to the warmth of a warm fire in the bar.
Rooms are fantastically comfortable and with the freshness of the mountain air you'll sleep incredibly well, waking up refreshed by the first of the sun rays.
A day or two stay here, waking up to sunrise from the top of this mountain peak is fantastic.
Stunning views. Amazing location.
Make yourself comfortable in one of the 27 spacious rooms in modern alpine style or, if you prefer, choose one of the three exclusive suites. This Belle Époque hotel with its unequalled view of an impressive alpine panorama leaves nothing to be desired. Go to sleep under a starry sky and be woken gently next morning, refreshed by the fantastic sunrise.
Winter: Lucerne's landmark mountain nestles in a thick blanket of snow in winter. That's the time when peace returns to the Pilatus, making it the perfect place for unwinding and relaxing. If you are in for action in winter the Pilatus Snow & Fun Park offers snow enthusiasts a wide variety of winter sports on Fräkmüntegg.
Summer: Enjoy the best views and crisp mountain air on the warmth of the terrace. Spring flowers in the meadows, hiking trails all over the mountain or fun & action at the Fräkmüntegg station with a rope park and the summer toboggan run. A place to rest after the enjoyment of an event filled day.
This fantastic hotel is perfect for a 1 or 2 night getaway break at any time of year for couples.
From Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm, the world's steepest cogwheel railway winds up through lush meadows carpeted with Alpine flowers, past sparkling mountain streams and fascinating rock faces.
In summer (May-October), take the Golden Round Trip, to include a stay in Hotel Pilatus-Kulm, travelling up the mountain by cable car, and descending by Cog Railway. Then enjoy the boat trip from Alpnachstad - a 5 minute walk from the Cog railway station, back to Lucerne. The boat serves coffee and snacks, and is a fantastic way to spend a relaxing late morning or early afternoon as part of a Pilatus visit.
Swiss Transport Museum
Don't forget to visit the Swiss Transport Museum - a 15 minute tram ride from central Lucerne. Not only will you see a fascinating collection of transport - from cars to trains, submarines to ships and planes to space, you'll also discover amazing interactive exhibits. I turned loops in an aerobatic plane simulator, flew a helicopter (ok - crashed a helicopter) and then took a miniature steam train ride around the different buildings. You can even play a car stacking game with real cars, including a Formula1 racecar. Every boy's dream destination... and a few dads too!
