About Fallen Angel Hotel
Seductive and Romantic townhouse hotel
This £2M project in the heart of historic Durham city is a rare combination of style and quirkyness. An expression of its owner and designer - no detail has been left to chance. The rooms are all about an experience rather than simply a bedroom!. Of course all the standards you would expect are in evidence; HD tvs, pocket sprung mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets, but so are hot tubs, saunas, railway carriages, day beds and pure opulence.
There is a room for every mood from Le Jardin with its grass floor, sauna, hot tub and body jet shower/steam cabinet and views over the river, to the virginal white romance of The Bridal Suite which occupies the entire top floor and enjoys views of the castle, cathedral and river.
Guests often come for the gorgeous rooms, but they stay for the food which is modern bistro style served in a cosy restaurant. While away the hours with a bottle of wine or a beer served in a frosted glass. Enjoy the view of the garden with its Rolls-Royce and giant tree covered with a thousand fairy lights. When the sun shines, what better than a glass of Pimms on the terrace?
The ten rooms are memorable and matched to various tastes and moods - whether it is the fun of the Sci-Fi or the raunchy decadence of Cruella where black, velvet and leather are the order of the day.
Service is delivered with care and a lack of formality. You’re coming to relax and enjoy yourself after all!!!
To say more would perhaps spoil some of the many surprises in store for you!!!

Map & Activities
Durham enjoys a dry climate with an average rainfall of only 21 inches per year. This is a great base for exploring the North of England and Border regions. The cathedral is a World Heritage Site and simply magnificent at sunset or sunrise.
Durham is on the main railline, London 2hr 45min, York 45min, Newcastle 13min, Edinburgh 1hr 50min. The station is 15 minutes walk and the city centre is 400m. Close enough to enjoy, but far enough to give you peace.
Beamish outdoor museum is a multi-million pound re-creation of England at the beginning of the twentieth century including a sweet shop, tram, coal mine and so much more. This will fill a very active four hours - and is only a 15mins drive from the hotel.
Durham is unspoilt by massive tourism and yet has all the vitality you might associate with Englands third oldest university. Great theatre, cinema and a modern bar and restaurant complex provide for a lively night out. You may prefer one of the more traditional bars where locals are usually ready to share a few tales.
The property is close to the wonderful beaches of Northumberland and the glorious heritage of Alnwick Castle - its treehouse as its simply amazing water show. It is only and hour away by car, or 35 minutes by train.
If lively is your idea of a great night out, then consider travelling to Newcastle [Voted one of the best nights out in Europe]! It also has some great galleries and museums.
Durhams unique situation means you can walk from the Hotel to the river in 200m, and then out into the countryside without entering any built up areas. Yet you still are able to enjoy café society equally as close.
