Magistrates court converted to hostel
This 200-year-old courthouse was originally used for petty criminal and less serious offences, although The Clash punk group were convicted here in the 70's.
Retaining the original facade and many of the courtroom relics, this Grade II listed building is situated in a conservation area 10 minutes walk from King's Cross station. Restored and converted to offer a combination of hostel dormitory, single and double rooms, as well as 6 original prison cells it's funky, up-beat and classy.

Clink78 has retained the two large and beautiful original courtrooms, now converted into a TV/film room and a very grand 'Guilty' internet room. Tweet from here! Rooms are a mix of Doubles, Dormitory rooms, Singles, and six original Prison cells which, having been refurbished with color and style, you can now sleep in!
It’s a very exciting building and there are plenty of nooks and crannies to discover including details of famous names connected with - it including Charles Dickens - who supposedly based parts of Oliver Twist on his experiences while working as a Scribe. The Clash punk group of the 70’s saw them standing in the dock for shooting prize-winning pigeons too!
Sleep the day off in an authentic prison cell; in solitary confinement or with your partner in crime! This is the place where the condemned used to stay before being brought before the judge. They have been recently refurbished with an injection of colour, warmth and humour! Plus, your very own cell mate to keep you company at night! Their 6 prison cells are English Heritage listed and have kept many original features such as the heavy door; the barred-window and bench. The toilet is for decorative purposes only. The rooms are small - but if you want to be able to tell your friends you slept in the Clink some sacrifices have to be made...Prices from £50 per room.
London private room en-suite
There are single, twin, double or triple; with or without bathroom. Some of them can sleep up to 3 people in a bunk bed with a single bed on top and a double bed below. They all have a bedside table and lamp. Some rooms also have a sink. They are perfect for those looking for privacy. Prices from £40 per room.
Dorm room basic or en-suite
For comfort and privacy, each clean and cosy pod bed has a personal light and a locker.
Dorm sizes are; with or without bathroom:
4-6 bed: ideal for a family;
8-10 bed: ideal for a group of friends visiting London for fun;
12-16 bed: the cheapest option and ideal for larger groups and friends who want to stay together and party! Prices from £10 per bed.
Female room basic
This room type is ideal for girls tired of sharing their rooms with snoring guys and having to fight their way through smelly socks. Sorry guys! For comfort and privacy, each clean and cosy pod bed has a personal light and a locker. Prices from £10 per bed.
Deluxe Girls dorms
This room type is an upgrade on basic girls dorms. They are situated in the Old Police Station so you'll feel double safe! They have had a recent makeover. It has given this corner of Clink78 a luxurious feel. Serene and relaxing cutting-edge Banksyesque style. Little extras like mirrors, hairdryers and extra hooks have been added! It is a retreat away from the bustling throng. Please note that there is no lift access to this area. Prices from £10 per bed and you get a FREE towel so no need to bring yours!

"Clashbar" has recently been renovated along with the rest of the hostel by London designer Shaun Clarkson to make it even more stylish, comfortable and the perfect space to party, pretend to be a judge and make new friends. There is also a knowledgeable staffed Travelshop and a self-catering kitchen, ideal for those on a tight budget.

The magisterial courtroom is filled with high tech Global Gossip PCs where you can simply purchase a card form reception and you can use it in several countries around the world (£1 for 30 minutes - £2 for 1 hour. Wireless is also available). The courtroom is listed in English heritage and Clink78 have done their utmost to keep it in its original condition.

TV lounge courtroom
Clink78's other former Courtroom is converted into a TV viewing room simply for relaxing, watching films and tv, gathering in groups, reading the latest music rag or making use of the wifi connection.
The name comes from co-founders of punk rock, The Clash, whose visit to Clink78 back in the 70's saw them standing in the dock for shooting prize-winning pigeons! And like the band, the bar also likes to make its presence felt... so Clashbar seemed the ideal name!
Self Catering Kitchen
Clean, slick and practical - just like Elvis! It's where everyone gathers from morning 'til night to do the most sociable of things, cook! There is no better way to enjoy your food than with old friends and new and with everything you need on hand to conjure up your gastronomic feast you couldn't ask for a more ideal scenario! The kitchen is open for guest use every day from 12.30pm 'till midnight. The kitchen is used in the morning between 7-10am for breakfast.
The perfect place to eat but also to play cards, board games, enter the pool competition, re-live the world cup with the footie table tournament or simply be on your laptop...
