Each year in October, the town of Perugia is a paradise for choco-holics.
The city that made the “Bacio Perugia” candy famous, hosts the 19th annual Eurochocolate festival from October 19th to 28th 2012.
For 9 days event you will be able to get your fix of this mystical confection that has been enjoyed in the New World since 1100 BC. Here you can delight in over 6000 chocolate products from over Italy and around the world. A variety of events taking place during the festival will make your visit to Perugia even sweeter.
New studies show that chocolate is good for you: it helps the circulatory system, and limited amounts of dark chocolate are reported to help prevent heart disease. Another report states that if you let chocolate melt in your mouth, it causes an increase in brain activity stronger than that associated with passionate kissing, lasting four times as long.
UHOTW says: Why not double your brain activity: after the chocolate melts in your mouth, follow it with a passionate kiss!
Where to sleep: Petroia Castle, located just 27 km from Perugia, where you can immerse yourself in an atmosphere dating back to medieval times and savour the gourmet cuisine, especially the à la carte menu featuring dishes prepared with chocolate. Their creative Chef Andrea Laurenzi, can do things with chocolate that you've never dreamt possible!
