Princess
Roxy packs up for the Isle of Wight: it will
be a real adventure, visiting three unusual and totally unique places to stay.
Straight
off the ferry and about a half hour south is the Gothic View, where Claude and
Anne Marie are the affable hosts. The Anglo/Franco couple have had an
adventure-filled life and chef Claude has catered to some of the crème de la
crème. It just happens to be dinner time, so show me what you've got, Claude!
The starter
was a home-made meat terrine accompanied by asparagus, cooked to perfection,
followed by a lamb chop, potatoes and the best skinny green beans I've ever
tasted.

How do you spell that? When UHOTW visited the World Travel Market in London, Sharla met a woman with a most unusual name.At the St. Anton Aarlberg, Austria stand, this vivacious lady named Wilma has a claim to fame - the longest name in German speaking Europe. Get ready: Himmelfreundpointner. This tongue-twister has twenty letters. What does it mean? Wilma replies: “It means friend to heaven and the rest doesn’t mean anything”.

Unusual
Jobs:- Osteria Senza Oste
Picture this:
It's a fine autumn day, you walk up the path and find a little stone house with
the door open. You walk in and find a hearth with a roaring fire. You look
around and find packages of salami, cheese, bread, and a refrigerator stocked
with sparkling wine. There are tables, chairs, a knife to cut your salami and
bread, and wine glasses. You take some food and sit at a table outside, with a
spectacular view of the vineyards in the valley below.

Professionals who make a difference!
Matt has it wrapped up. When you do what you love and get paid for it, what else do you want? He’s been a
bartender for 10 years and is our main man at
Roadhouse in Covent Garden,
in the heart of London. Matt is an example of what happens when you take “just a job” and ratchet it up a notch.. or two.. or ten... He didn’t just familiarise himself with the cocktail menu (hundreds of items,
by the way) ..

Plucking up
my courage on Mount Pilatus
Half way up
the mountain we make a stop at the
adventure park. Aren't these
places for kids? Ignoring my fear
of heights I get suited up for my adventure. After a short briefing about how to use the clips and zip line attachment find myself
climbing a 15 foot-high pole, clipping and unclipping myself all the way up.
The upside is, there's no time to be afraid because you are
too busy clipping yourself on and off.&

An Unusual Halloween at the Fun Hotel
October 31 was a not a
day for the faint-hearted in Verona: The Hotel Montemezzi, known as the Fun
hotel, had a scary do for the holiday.
Guests took advantage
of a face and body painter on hand, as well as a professional photographer, scary
organ music in the background, and the whole hotel had a lights-off policy. The
only illumunation was candles throughout the dining room.

This year, on November 5th, Amsterdam museums stay open until 2AM
and welcome thousands of new visitors. For a relatively small city,
Amsterdam has a great number of museums and more than 40 museums
collaborate during Museum Night and are easy to reach by bicycle or
public transport. Apart from seeing the collections and
temporary exhibitions there’s plenty to see and do, also for non-Dutch
visitors. The programme includes DJ’s, bands, dance, performances, film,
food & drinks.M

The last
stop on the Pure Wight Tour was the Enchanted Manor, and what better place for
Princess to wield her magic wand? Yet nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to experience. The Enchanted Manor is a veritable fairyland,
with sprites peeking out from every corner. Ric and Maggie, who met in Ric's native
Australia a dozen years ago, are the loving hosts and they have filled this
place with magic.
