In this modern climate with new economic powers rising from seemingly nothing and past rulers of the world economy being left for dust, China is certainly the world's newest superpower. With not only their international trade creating a seemingly impossible surplus, their domestic situation (in economic terms) is a marvel.
Picture this; You need a 30 story hotel, not only with innovative building design (to counter earthquakes and the like), but state of the art living standards are also required. On top of this, you're a fairly limited budget to do all of this (depsite the resources available to China). Yet, all of this was accomplished by a Chinese Construction company 'Broad Group' in a mere 15 hours, beating their previous record of 15 stories in a single week.
But this isn't the first time we have seen China produce a building that boggles the minds of contemporary architects and certainly won't be the last. As early as the 7th century BC, there are reports of parts of the Great Wall of China already under construction, which is surely one of the most famous constructions in the whole of history (just to clear something up whilst we are here, it's not visible from the moon). Then skip, hop and jump to a modern construction of the Bird's Nest (Beijing Olympic Stadium), which is the world's largest steel structure and beautiful building in itself.
