The coolest tents

Posted By CarlH on Feb 24, 2012 at 10:17PM

From Carl:The trend for ever more luxurious tents hasn't passed UHOTW by. But its all so beige...or khaki... Don't get us wrong! We love Yurts. They have a proper front door - and Glamping - a wood fired hot tub and feather pillow in the great outdoors, something we all could do more of.But they miss the spontaneity of grabbing a sleeping bag, a few friends and a mysterious bag of bits that will (hopefully) turn into something more cosy if the weather turns nasty.L

housebites reinvention of the takeaway The takeaway. The busy Brit's staple meal. Quick, convenient, ready when you want it ... and, let's be honest, too often underwhelming. Imagine if you could have the ease of the takeaway, but with the quality of a restaurant meal, delivered to your door. Imagine that it's all prepared by experienced local cooks (all taste-tested beforehand).   housebites have turned the power over to you and the chef.

Carl gets a lot of cool - and often quirky invitations, and recently saw the following post about artist Madhu Kaza, who travels to strangers homes in the New York City area to read them bedtime stories. In Here Is Where We Meet, artist Madhu Kaza will travel to individual participant’s homes by appointment to read to them at bedtime. This project is part of the artist’s ongoing Hospitality series, which includes projects that explore social conventions, rituals of domestic and daily life, relations between strangers, hosts and guests, and boundaries of public and intimate space.I

Print on the Run in the USA

Posted By CarlH on Jul 08, 2011 at 3:59AM

It isn't everyday that you see someone doing something that you just think needs to be shared and celebrated. Perhaps as much for the courage of "getting up and doing something", without the safety of a big bank balance as for "treading a path that no others have trodden before" - I thought my fellow uhotw fans would appreciate this note;Kyle Durrie, a letterpress printer from Portland, Oregon and lover of traditional printing, has converted an old truck into a mobile print shop using traditional methods, and is touring the USA to showcase the art and pleasure of just printing stuff yourself.&
